What's going on in Addington

nigelAn online thanksgiving service for the life of Nigel Cooke will be broadcast on YouTube from 2.30pm GMT on Saturday 24th October 2020, which would have been Nigel’s 89th birthday.  Follow this link to listen to the service https://tinyurl.com/y2u88h7w

The service is pre-recorded and will be available to watch later, should this timing not suit you. If you are watching at 2.30pm GMT you should be able to ‘chat’ online with other viewers if you wish.  The service will be approximately 1 hour in length.  We encourage you to enjoy one of Nigel’s favourite lunches beforehand (Haywards Sausages with Mash, Fish and Chips, Pizza Fiorentina) then sit down with a Mini Magnum (or any ice cream!) and a cup of good coffee to join in the tribute.

Helen would prefer that you do not send flowers but rather send a donation, if you wish, to the Keswick Convention Trust which Nigel and Helen have supported for many years and for whom Nigel served as official photographer.  Donate via their website here
https://keswickministries.org/donate/donate-now-2/ and specify that this is a Tribute Gift in memory of Nigel Cooke.  Alternatively you may wish to donate to Dementia UK, whose Admiral Nurse Helpline enabled the family to access high quality care for Nigel in his final weeks of life.  You can do that via the funeral director’s website here https://www.funeralguide.co.uk/obituaries/81087

Helen would like to take this opportunity to thank the hundreds of people who have sent cards, letters and messages since Nigel’s death. We give thanks that Nigel is now home with the Lord whom he loved throughout his life.

Showing the way - a message from Bob Young

"We would like to thank all the church family for their prayers cards and messages of support and hope that brought us great comfort.  Also for such a lovely and fitting tribute for Margaret with so many of the church family standing in line showing Margaret the way.
Thank you all so much

Love from both of us"

BART Community support

We are revising our scheme in BART to help people who may be self-isolating (having to stay at home because of the Coronavirus) or who may just need a helping hand.

Our team of volunteers can offer help with:

  • Collecting food shopping
  • Getting urgent supplies and prescriptions
  • Posting mail or running errands
  • A friendly phone call to check you are ok

We don’t want anyone to feel alone – don’t think twice
about contacting us if you feel we can be useful!

The BART churches and the Parish Councils in Birling, Addington, Ryarsh and Trottiscliffe have come together to offer community support– it’s a village network to give help to anyone who may need it:
